Who we are
GECI Waste Removal Ltd (“GECI”, “we”) is the data controller for personal information collected through this website. We are a private limited company registered in England and Wales, company number 17272421, registered office Flat 29, Lavender House, Rotherhithe Street, London, SE16 5EA.
Contact us about your information by phone on 07423 633643.
What we collect when you request a quote
- Your name, phone number and, if you give it, your email address and how you prefer to be contacted.
- The collection address and postcode, and any access notes you add.
- What needs removing, roughly how much, your preferred date and time, and any other notes.
- Photos you choose to upload. Before storing them we re-process each photo, which removes hidden data such as the GPS location embedded by phones.
- If you tick the box asking for a WhatsApp confirmation: that you asked for it, when, and which version of the wording you saw, so we can show you agreed.
- Basic technical information: a one-way, keyed code derived from your IP address (we do not store the address itself), used to stop abuse; and, if present, the page you first opened on this site and the website or campaign that referred you.
While you fill in the form, your answers are kept in your own browser's session storage so they survive a refresh. They are removed when your request is sent or when you close the tab.
Any notes you add are part of your request and are handled the same way.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To respond to your request — to review it, contact you, prepare a quote and arrange a collection. Lawful basis: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).
- To send you a WhatsApp confirmation, only if you ask for one — a single message with your reference. Lawful basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a)). The box is never ticked for you, and not ticking it makes no difference to your request.
- To keep the website secure — rate-limiting and spam prevention. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in protecting our service (Article 6(1)(f)).
- To keep business records of quotes and jobs. Lawful basis: legitimate interests, and legal obligations where records are required by law.
We do not sell your information or use it for marketing.
Who can see it
Your request is sent only to GECI, so our staff can reply to it. We use service providers who process data on our behalf and under our instructions: website hosting, our database and secure file storage, and the services that deliver each new request to GECI. Our email delivery service sends your request to GECI's email inbox, and WhatsApp's business messaging service (Meta) delivers it to GECI's WhatsApp: your name, phone number, email address (if you gave one), how you'd like to be contacted, address and postcode, the service and amount, your description, access details and notes, your preferred date, your reference and the photos you uploaded. When you check a postcode, the postcode alone is sent to the postcodes.io lookup service.
If you ask for a WhatsApp confirmation, WhatsApp's business messaging service (Meta) delivers it to the mobile number you gave us. It receives that number, your first name, the service you chose and your reference — nothing else. The message comes from GECI's WhatsApp business number and says where to contact us, as replies to that number are not read. If you give an email address, our email delivery service may also send you a confirmation of your request: your first name, your reference, the service, amount, postcode and preferred date you chose, how you'd like us to contact you, the last three digits of your phone number and how many photos you sent — nothing you typed in the notes or item description, and never your photos.
If you contact us through WhatsApp, WhatsApp (Meta) processes your messages under its own terms and privacy policy.
Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on the safeguards UK law requires, such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Addendum.
How long we keep it
- Photos uploaded but never sent with a request are deleted automatically after 24 hours.
- Photos attached to a request are deleted 12 months after the request was made.
- Request details are kept for 24 months, after which personal details are removed (anonymised), unless we need them longer for a job, an invoice or a legal reason. This includes the record of messages we sent about it.
- The copy of your request and photos that reaches GECI's WhatsApp or email inbox is kept only as long as we need it for your job and our business records, and is then deleted.
- The records we use to limit repeated submissions are deleted after 2 days.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your information, to restrict or object to how we use it, or for a copy to take elsewhere. Where we rely on your consent, such as for a WhatsApp confirmation, you can withdraw it at any time. Contact us using the details above. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113.
